The Ghetto Gourmet began as an original underground dining experience in a basement apartment in Oakland, California. The Townsend brothers, Joe the chef and Jeremy the poet, cultivated a loyal following literally from the ground up. Every Monday night, 15-30 strangers gather on their living room floor for a chance to make new friends, be entertained by local artists, and enjoy deliciously creative cuisine.
What started out as an experiment has turned into a movement. The Ghetto Gourmet prides itself on providing top-notch cuisine for a diverse clientele in uniquely comfortable settings. Taking their cue from traditional salons and a growing communal dining trend, The Ghetto Gourmet is excited to offer a range of private dinner parties in various locations throughout the Bay area, as well as full personal chef services.
In association with Oakland’s historic Mile High Club, the Ghetto Gourmet also hosts occasional supper club events for 50 guests featuring a finely-plated four-course dinner, visual artists, live music, storytellers, dancers, and comedians.
The Ghetto Gourmet is proud and grateful to be a product of the vibrant East Bay underground community, and we welcome your support and assistance.
